It's like trying to make an important decision while intoxicated, and because it clouds our perception, we often don’t even realize it’s happening.

In my experience as a hypnotherapist and coach, I’ve worked with many clients who don’t even realize how deeply shame affects their decisions.

One client shared that she turned to drinking as a way to cope with stress, but the shame she felt afterward left her spiraling.

We quickly addressed the core of her shame instead of just focusing on the behavior itself.

The question to ask is NEVER: “What is wrong with you?”

The correct question is ALWAYS: “What happened to you?”

Shame doesn’t just show up out of nowhere.

It's learned over time, and it can be unlearned too.

You can start to break free from its grip by understanding that the emotions you're experiencing are not innate—they’re learned responses to life’s painful experiences.

And when you identify the root cause of these emotions, healing becomes possible.

If you’ve been battling the symptoms of shame without getting to the heart of the issue, it’s time to dig deeper.

The symptoms—whether it’s people-pleasing, substance abuse, or self-doubt—are just the surface.

By addressing the root cause, you can permanently shift your mindset and behaviors.
